jhammett@youthnetnw.netBorn and raised in South Florida, Jessica grew up and lived in the same town until she traveled away for university. She got her degree in Biological Sciences, but always wanted to be able to help and work with people. Many of her work opportunities began in non-profit agencies or fields that fueled her eagerness to work with and around people. After entry-level work at a couple of non-profits while going to school, leading non-profit collegiate organizations and growing up in a family involved in volunteering and community events, Jessica realized where she wanted to develop her career: the nonprofit world. She had a desire to do more and learn more than she already had, and especially wanted to work with children and youth. Her heart for them grew as she saw the impacts that were made within a child’s development, because of intervention from these non profits that made it their mission to support and uplift the next-generation.
“Leverage the impact you can have by getting involved at the most developmental times of a person’s life- childhood, adolescence and young adulthood. So much of what we are able to do at Youthnet is doing exactly this, and it provides a foundation for children, youth and families to avoid more difficult life circumstances by navigating hardship to attain healthy relationships and fruitful futures.”
