Youthnet is proud to announce that its Caregiver Support Program is now open and available to caregivers in Snohomish County!
Caring for children placed by the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) is a vital but often challenging responsibility. Recognizing the unique needs of caregivers, Youthnet’s Caregiver Support Program provides essential services to ensure stability, development, and well-being for children in care. Whether you are a relative, kin, or foster parent, Youthnet offers a personalized approach to support caregivers and the children they serve.
Comprehensive Support Tailored to Caregivers’ Needs
Youthnet understands that every caregiver’s situation is unique. That’s why our services are designed to address a wide range of needs, including:
-
Educational Advocacy: Ensuring children have access to the educational resources they need to thrive.
-
Health Coordination: Helping caregivers navigate medical appointments and health services for the children in their care.
-
Childcare Assistance: Providing support to help caregivers manage daily responsibilities.
-
Culturally Responsive Care: Addressing the cultural and identity needs of children to foster a sense of belonging.
-
Transition Support: Preparing youth approaching adulthood with the skills and resources they need for independence.
-
Behavioral Strategy Development and Crisis Support: Equipping caregivers with tools to manage challenging behaviors and providing immediate assistance during crises.
Personalized Caregiver Support Plans (CSP)
Youthnet takes a proactive approach to caregiver support by creating personalized Caregiver Support Plans (CSP). Here’s how it works:
-
Rapid Response: Youthnet connects with new caregivers within 72 hours of a child’s placement (excluding weekends and holidays) to assess immediate needs.
-
Collaborative Planning: Within 14 days, a tailored CSP is developed in collaboration with the caregiver and their chosen support network.
-
Ongoing Support: The CSP includes quarterly updates to ensure caregivers receive sustained and adaptive support over time. For children with higher support levels (3-7), the program offers pre-authorized Case Aide hours to assist with more intensive needs.
Who Is Eligible?
The Caregiver Support Program serves participants in Snohomish County and is available to caregivers through DCYF referral. Eligibility is determined based on the needs of each child and their Caregiver Support Resource Level, assessed by a Placement Resource Specialist at the time of entry into foster care.
